Abstract

 HDI is an indicator used to view developments in the long term. To see the progress of human development, there are two aspects that need to be considered, namely speed and status of achievement. In general, human development in South Sumatra continued to progress during the period 2010 to 2020. South Sumatra's HDI increased from 64.44 in 2010 to 70.01 in 2020. During that period, South Sumatra's HDI grew by 0.83 on average. percent per year starting in 2010. In the 2019–2020 period, South Sumatra's HDI decreased by 0.01 percent.
• In 2020, human development in South Sumatra Province maintains a “high” status in its second year. The increase in HDI achievement cannot be separated from the increase in each of its components. Along with the increase in the HDI figure, the index for each HDI component also showed an increase from year to year. From the health component which represents the dimensions of longevity and healthy life, it continues to increase from year to year. Babies born in 2020 have the expectation to live up to 69.88 years, 0.23 years longer than those born the previous year. The second component, knowledge which is formed by two indicators, namely the Average Length of Schooling and Expectation of Old Schools In South Sumatra Province, children who are 7 years old in 2020 have the hope of enjoying education for 12.45 years (Diploma I), 0.06 years longer than children of the same age in 2020. Meanwhile, the population Ages 25 and over have taken an average of 8.24 years of education (class VIII), 0.06 years longer than the previous year. The last component is the expenditure component where in 2020, the people of South Sumatra meet their daily needs with an average per capita expenditure of 10.652 million rupiah per year, a decrease of 285 thousand rupiah compared to the previous year's expenditure.
 Palembang City, Lubuklinggau City, and Prabumulih City are level II regions with HDI in the high category (70 ≤ HDI <80), while the other 14 districts / cities are still in the medium category (60 ≤ HDI <70).
