Abstract
Farmer's
Exchange Rate (NTP) is the ratio of the price index received by farmers (It) to
the index of price paid by farmers (Ib).
NTP is one
indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural
areas. NTP also shows the terms of trade of agricultural products with goods
and services consumed as well as for production costs.
In October,
South Sumatra's NTP fell 0.09 percent compared to September's FTT, from 112.07
to 111.96. The decrease in NTP in October 2021 was due to the price index of
agricultural products experiencing an average price decline of 0.17 percent,
while the index paid by farmers in general only experienced an average decrease
of 0.07 percent.
The decline
in NTP in October 2021 was influenced by the decline in NTP in the Plantation
sub-sector which fell by 0.41 percent and Livestock by 0.91 percent. Meanwhile,
other sub-sectors that experienced an increase were Food Crops by 1.14 percent,
Horticulture 1.31 percent, Fisheries in general 0.78 percent, Capture Fisheries
0.71 percent and Aquaculture 0.89 percent.
In October
2021, in South Sumatra, there was a rural deflation of 0.14 percent caused by a
decrease in the average price index in the expenditure group, namely: Food,
Beverages and Tobacco by 0.30 percent, Health by 0.01 percent and Recreation,
Sports. and Culture 0.08 percent. Meanwhile, other groups experienced an
increase and some remained unchanged.
