Abstract
In the last
one year period, September 2020-September 2021, South Sumatra's poverty rate
fell by 0.19 percentage points from 12.98 percent to 12.79 percent. Meanwhile,
the number of poor people decreased by 3.04 thousand people from 1,119.65
thousand people to 1,116.61 thousand people. Compared to March 2021, the
poverty rate in September 2021 in South Sumatra also fell by 0.05 points from
12.84 percent to 12.79 percent.
The
percentage of poor people in urban areas in September 2020 was 12.52 percent,
decreased to 12.36 percent in March 2021 and decreased to 11.99 percent in
September 2021. Meanwhile, the percentage of poor people in rural areas
decreased from 13.25 percent in September 2020 to 13.12 percent in March 2021
and rose to 13.28 percent in September 2021.
The role of
food groups on the poverty line is much greater than the role of non-food
groups (housing, clothing, education and health). The contribution of the Food
Poverty Line (GKM) to the September 2021 Poverty Line (GK) was recorded at
74.16, down from the condition in March 2021 of 74.45 percent, and down
compared to September 2020's condition of 74.49 percent.
Food
commodities that have a major influence on the Poverty Line in urban areas are
relatively the same as in rural areas, including rice, filtered kretek
cigarettes, chicken eggs, purebred chicken meat, sugar, instant noodles, ground
coffee & instant coffee (sachets), and bread. . Meanwhile, non-food
commodities are housing, gasoline, electricity, education, and toiletries.
In the
period September 2020 - September 2021, the Poverty Depth Index (P1) and the
Poverty Severity Index (P2) both experienced an increase.
In the last
year or in the period September 2020-September 2021, the Gini Ratio of Sumatra
Selatan has increased from 0.338 in September 2020 to 0.340 in September 2021
or an increase of 0.002 points, but there has been a decrease for the period
March 2021-September 2021 by 0.001 points.
Along with
the increasing Gini Ratio in the last year or the period September
2020-September 2021, the distribution of expenditure in Sumatra Selatan
according to the World Bank's measurements in the same period showed a slightly
declining distribution as seen from the declining expenditure of the bottom 40
percent of the population, which was down by 0.32 percent points.
In
September 2020, the expenditure of the bottom 40 percent of the population was
19.92 percent, then it fell to 19.60 percent in September 2021 or decreased by
0.32 percentage points.
In urban areas in the September 2020 period for the lowest 40 percent spending group, 18.50 percent then dropped to 18.25 percent in September 2021 or decreased by 0.25 percentage points.
Likewise in rural areas, in September 2020 it was 21.46 percent, it decreased to 20.85 percent in September 2021 or decreased by 0.61 percentage points.
