Release of Official Statistical News "South Sumatra Economic Growth Quarter 4-2023 and 2023"

February 5, 2024 | Other Activities

Responding to the needs of data consumers for the latest GDP and economic growth data, the South Sumatra Provincial Central Statistics Agency released Official Statistical News on Monday, February 5 2024. The data released includes South Sumatra's economic growth figures in the 4th quarter of 2023 and 2023, as well as GRDP figures which is the basis for calculating economic growth figures.

In order to continue to improve cooperation and coordination with the Regional Government and related stakeholders, the release of the Official Statistical News was also attended by the Regional Secretary of South Sumatra Province, Mr. Ir. S.A. Supriyono and officials from related agencies.

Meanwhile, the economy of South Sumatra in the 4-2023 quarter grew 4.94 percent compared to the 4-2022 quarter. Meanwhile, cumulatively, the economy of South Sumatra in 2023 will grow 5.08 percent compared to the previous year. The mining sector is still the source of South Sumatra's highest economic growth in this period.

On this occasion, the Regional Secretary of South Sumatra Province emphasized his attention, among other things, to the mining sector which is predicted to experience a sharp downward trend due to policies to reduce carbon emissions and the rubber industry which needs to boost its growth. Apart from that, he also encouraged the focus of economic growth not only to focus on the regional scope, but rather to be in line with national policies. In closing, he hopes that collaboration will continue to be maintained between BPS and the Communication and Information Service to manage and interpret regional statistical data, especially in South Sumatra.
