Abstract

  • Farmer's Exchange Rate (NTP) is the ratio of the price index received by farmers (It) to the index of price paid by farmers (Ib).
  • NTP is one indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the terms of trade (terms of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.
  • In May 2022, Sumatra Selatan's NTP fell 4.69 percent compared to April's FTT, from 115.72 to 110.29. The decrease in NTP in May 2022 was due to the price index of agricultural products experiencing an average price decline of 4.0 percent, while the index paid by farmers in general experienced an average increase of 0.73 percent.
  • The decline in NTP in May 2022 was influenced by a decrease in FTT in the Food Crops sub-sector by 0.58 percent, Plantation by 6.00 percent, Fisheries in General 1.86 percent, Capture Fisheries 2.57 percent and Aquaculture 0.77 percent. Meanwhile, other sub-sectors that experienced an increase were Horticulture 1.18 percent and Animal Husbandry 0.79 percent.
  • In May 2022, in Sumatra Selatan there was rural inflation of 0.76 percent caused by an increase in the average price index in the expenditure group, namely: Food, Beverage and Tobacco Group 1.10 percent, Clothing and Footwear 0.42 percent, Housing , Water, Electricity and Household Fuel 0.07 percent, Equipment, Equipment and Household Routine Maintenance 0.27 percent, Health 0.45 percent, Transportation 0.15 percent, Information, communication and Financial Services 0.01 percent, Recreation, Sports and Culture 0.49 percent, Provision of Food and Beverage/Restaurant 0.37 percent and Personal Care and Other Services 0.12 percent. For the Education group, there was no change.
  • The national Agricultural Household Business Exchange Rate (NTUP) in May 2022 was 109.97, down 4.59 percent compared to the previous month's NTUP.
