Abstract

Farmer's Exchange Rate (NTP) is the ratio of the price index received by farmers (It) to the index of price paid by farmers (Ib).

NTP is one indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the terms of trade (terms of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.

In August 2022, Sumatera Selatan's NTP rose 0.16 percent compared to July's FTT, from 105.75 to 105.91. The increase in NTP in August 2022 was due to the price index of agricultural products experiencing an average price decline of 1.13 percent, lower than the index paid by farmers which in general experienced an average decline of 1.28 percent.

The increase in FTT in August 2022 was influenced by the increase in FTT in the Food Crops sub-sector which rose by 3.32 percent, Fisheries in general 2.81 percent, Capture Fisheries 2.35 percent and Aquaculture 3.50 percent. Meanwhile, other sub-sectors that experienced a decline were Horticulture, which fell by 1.90 percent, Plantation by 0.57 percent and Livestock by 0.25 percent.

In August 2022, in Sumatera Selatan there was a rural deflation of 1.69 percent caused by a decrease in the average index price in the expenditure groups, namely: Food, Beverages and Tobacco by 2.90 percent and the Housing, Water, Electricity and Home Fuels group. Stairs 0.05 percent. While the groups experiencing inflation were the Clothing and Footwear group which rose by 0.20 percent, Equipment, Equipment and Household Routine Maintenance 0.63 percent, Health 0.69 percent, Transportation 0.39 percent, Information, Communication and Financial Services 0.05 percent, Recreation, Sports and Culture 0.24 percent, Education 2.85 percent, Provision of Food and Beverage/Restaurant 0.33 percent and Personal Care and Other Services 0.46 percent.

The national Agricultural Household Business Exchange Rate (NTUP) in August 2022 was 104.84, down 1.33 percent compared to the previous month's NTUP.
