Sumatera Selatan Trade Balance January 2023 Surplus US$529.08 million

Abstract

·         Sumatera Selatan's export value in January 2023 reached US$579.05 million, down 9.88 percent compared to December 2022 exports. Compared to January 2022, the export value increased by 63.06 percent.

·         Non-oil and gas exports in January 2023 reached US$550.26 million, down 8.42 percent compared to December 2022. Compared to January 2022, non-oil and gas exports increased by 59.41 percent.

·         The largest share of January 2023 exports was China with US$239.36 million, India with US$45.78 million, and the Philippines with US$45.26 million, with the contribution of the three of them reaching 57.06 percent. Meanwhile, exports to ASEAN and the European Union were 21.46 percent and 3.06 percent, respectively.

·         Sumatera Selatan's import value in January 2023 reached US$49.97 million, down 14.66 percent compared to December 2022, and down 40.56 percent compared to January 2022.

·         January 2023 oil and gas imports were valued at US$3.99 million, up 7.62 percent compared to December 2022, and down 75.12 percent compared to January 2022.

·         Non-oil and gas imports in January 2023 were valued at US$45.98 million, down 16.17 percent compared to December 2022, and down 32.41 percent compared to January 2022.

·         The three largest suppliers of imported goods in January 2023 were China US$14.41 million (28.85 percent), Ivory Coast US$10.19 million (20.40 percent), and Vietnam US$6.99 million (13.98 percent). The value of imports from ASEAN in January 2023 was US$16.83 million (33.67 percent) and the European Union US$7.04 million (14.08 percent).

·         Sumatera Selatan's trade balance in January 2023 experienced a surplus of US$ 529.08 million, originating from the non-oil and gas sector of US$ 504.28 million, and the oil and gas sector of US$ 24.81 million.
