Abstract

EXPORT

  • The value of Sumatera Selatan’s exports in 2023 reached US$462.00 million, decreased 8.62 percent compared to exports in August 2023 and decreased 31.66 percent compared to 2022.
  • Non-oil and gas exports in 2023 reached US$419.27 million, decreased 6.95 percent compared to non-oil and gas exports in August 2023. Meanwhile, it decreased 36.10 percent compared to 2022.
  • Sumatera Selatan’s exports cumulatively during January– 2023 reached US$ 4.978 billion, decreased 11.59 percent over the same period in 2022.
  • The main country destinations of exports in 2023 were China at US$141.58 million, India at US$57.76 million, and Singapore at US$ 36.63 million.
  • Sumatera Selatan’s exports cumulatively during January–2023 reached US$2.032 billion for China, US$511.55 million for India and US$378.75 million for Malaysia. These three countries reached 58.71 percent of total export. Meanwhile, the export to ASEAN countries and European Union are 23.15 percent and 2.97 percent.

IMPORT

    Imports of Sumatera Selatan in 2023 were worth US$123.87 million, decreased by 13.25 percent compared to August 2023, and grew by 26.13 percent compared to 2022.
  • Imports of oil and gas in 2023 were US$5.10 million, increased by 100.04 percent compared to August 2023, and fell by 40.69 percent compared to 2022.
  • Imports of non-oil and gas in 2023 were worth US$118.77 million, decreased by 15.31 percent compared to 2023, and grew by 32.54 percent compared to 2022. 
  • The big three largest trading partner countries of non-oil and gas imports in January–August 2023 were China US$338.66 million (49.02 percent), Malaysia US$62.36 million (9.03 percent), and Ivory Coast US$49.11 million (7.11 percent). Imports of non-oil and gas from ASEAN and EU countries were US$182.37 million (26.40 percent) and US$63.30 million (9.16 percent), respectively. 
  • Sumatera Selatan’s balance of trade in 2023 experienced a surplus of US$338.13 million, which affected by a surplus of non-oil and gas of US$300.50 million and a surplus of oil and gas of US$37.63 million in oil and gas.
