Sumatera Selatan Trade Balance August 2023 Surplus US$362.81 million

Abstract

  • Non-oil and gas exports in August 2023 reached US$450.6 million, decreased 11.04 percent compared to non-oil and gas exports in July 2023. Meanwhile, it decreased 36.40 percent compared to August 2022.
  • Sumatera Selatan’s exports cumulatively during January–August 2023 reached US$ 4.516 billion, decreased 8.86 percent over the same period in 2022.
  • The main country destinations of exports in August 2023 were China at US$180.54 million, Malaysia at US$58.41million, and South Korea at US$ 58.20 million.
  • Sumatera Selatan’s exports cumulatively during January–August 2023 reached US$ 1.89 billion for China, US$ 453.79 million for India and US$ 1.89 billion. These three countries reached 59.81 percent of total export. Meanwhile, the export to ASEAN countries and European Union are 22.24 percent and 3.02 percent. 
  • IMPORTS

    • Imports of Sumatera Selatan in August 2023 were worth US$142.79 million, decreased by 108.16 percent compared to July 2023, and grow by 49.05 percent compared to August 2022.
    • Imports of oil and gas in August 2023 were US$2.55 million, increased by 35.86 percent compared to July 2023, and fell by 74.14 percent compared to August 2022.
    • Imports of non-oil and gas in August 2023 were worth US$ 140.24 million, increased by 110.20 percent compared to July 2023, and grew by 63.19 percent compared to August 2022.
    • The big three largest trading partner countries of non-oil and gas imports in January–August 2023 were China US$271.66 million (47.92 percent), Malaysia US$ 52.58 million (9.27 percent), and Vietnam US$36.98 million (6.52 percent). Imports of non-oil and gas from ASEAN and EU countries were US$151.52 million (26.73 percent) and US$60.39 billion (10.65percent), respectively.
