Abstract

The availability of timely and accurate agricultural data is the foundation for realizing targeted policies. Since 2018, BPS has collaborated with the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN) which has now merged into the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), the Ministry of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (Ministry of ATR/ BPN), the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) seeks to increase the calculation of rice harvested area through the application of objective measurements with advances in utilizing technology and communication as well as the availability of resolution satellite images. This collaboration is manifested in an activity entitled “Integrated Food Crops Agricultural Statistics Data Collection with Area Sample Framework (KSA) Method” or better known as the ASF Survey. The implementation of KSA Surveillance for rice commodities began to be implemented nationally in 2018. Field KSA Surveys are carried out on the last 7 (seven) days of each month. Based on the results of the KSA Survey, in 2021, the rice harvested area of ​​South Sumatra Province reached around 496.24 thousand hectares or decreased by 55.08 thousand hectares (9.99 percent) compared to 2020. Meanwhile, the rice production of South Sumatra Province in 2021, which is 2,552.44 thousand tons of GKG. If converted into rice, South Sumatra Province's rice production in 2021 will reach around 1,465.75 thousand tons, or a decrease of 109.46 thousand tons (6.95 percent) compared to rice production in 2020. In addition to producing an estimate of harvested area, the KSA Survey Descriptions related to other very rice phases, such as the area of ​​the early vegetative, late vegetative, generative phases, potential for crop failure, the area of ​​agricultural land left, and the area of ​​agricultural land planted with crops other than rice.
