Abstract

The agricultural sector is one of the vital sectors in human life. This sector has a very significant contribution to achieving the second goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's) program, namely eliminating hunger, achieving food security, improving nutrition, and encouraging sustainable agricultural cultivation. The role of the agricultural sector in Indonesia is also very important because it is the third largest contributor to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) which acts as a driver of national economic growth.
Based on BPS data, the agricultural, forestry and fisheries sectors will contribute 12.40 percent to the Indonesian economy in 2022. Even though during the Covid-19 pandemic the Indonesian economy experienced contraction, the agricultural sector was able to continue to grow positively. Over the last three years, this sector has continued to experience positive growth, namely growing around 1.77 percent in 2020, then in 2021 growing by 1.87 percent, until reaching around 2.25 percent in 2022 (BPS, 2023). In addition, the strategic role of the agricultural sector is also demonstrated by its contribution to labor absorption which is the largest compared to other sectors, namely around 28.61 percent based on the results of the National Labor Force Survey in August 2022 (BPS, 2022).
This report presents the results of the Sumatera Selatan's KSA Survey activities in 2022. The data presented in this report covers the area of rice harvest and rice/rice production at the provincial and district/city levels. In addition, this report also provides information regarding other rice phases, such as the area of the early vegetative, late vegetative, generative phases, the potential for crop failure, the area of agricultural land fallow, and the area of agricultural land planted with crops other than rice. A comparative description of the conditions of harvested area and rice production in South Sumatra in 2021-2022 is also presented in this report.
