Abstract
• The export value of South Sumatra in May 2021 reached US$ 359.59 million, down 16.33 percent compared to April 2021. However, when compared to May 2020, it increased 49.31 percent.
• Non-oil and gas exports in May 2021 reached US$ 344.91 million, decreased by 18.18 percent compared to April 2021, and when compared to May 2020 it rose 49.40 percent. Meanwhile, oil and gas exports in May 2021 reached US$ 14.68 million, up 77.64 percent compared to April 2021, and when compared to oil and gas exports in May 2020, it rose 47.13 percent.
• China, the United States and Japan became the main export destination countries for South Sumatra in the January - May 2021 period, reaching US$ 631.07 million, US$ 175.27 million and US$ 133.60 million, respectively, with the role of the three reaching 49.18 percent of total exports for the period January - May 2021.
• The value of South Sumatra's imports in May 2021 was US$ 65.61 million or decreased by 34.11 percent compared to April 2021, however, compared to May 2020 imports, it increased by 13.21 percent.
• Non-oil and gas imports in May 2021 reached US$ 65.44 million, down 33.71 percent compared to April 2021, but when compared to non-oil and gas imports in May 2020, it rose 13.71 percent. Meanwhile, oil and gas imports in May 2021 reached US$ 172.98 thousand, down 80.11 percent compared to April 2021, and down 57.33 percent compared to May 2020.
• The three main import origin countries are China with an import value of US$ 289.06 million, followed by Malaysia with an import value of US$ 13.38 million and Canada with an import value of US$ 12.70 million, with the contribution of the three reaching 79.39 percent of total imports for the period January - May 2021.
